Fort Snelling Chapel Wedding in St. Paul: Lilly + Alex
Lilly and Alex had a beautiful wedding ceremony at the Fort Snelling Chapel in St. Paul! I met Lilly when she was 9 years old. One of my favorite memories of her is that she wanted to be a Jedi Knight when she grew up! She was one of Liv’s ( my daughter) best friends and was a bridesmaid at her wedding. Lilly worked for us for 4 years as Benny’s (my son) PCA and was one of the most important person in his life. I have watched her grow into an amazing woman! It was such a privilege to photograph her wedding and so happy that she met Alex! I can’t wait to see the life and family that they build together!
As told by Lilly & Alex
How did you meet and fall in love?
We met through our friend Paige at a local pub. Lilly made Alex memorize her name and her college major/minor on the first night they met. Alex found it hilarious that Lilly made it clear she did not want him to forget her.
How did you choose your venue?
We toured a lot of places and when we found Turtles, we both got a great feeling. The owner had an awesome selection of food including vegan and vegetarian fare, and great beer. The brick walls and old fashioned bar made for a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere.
What were your thoughts leading up to the wedding day?
Finding ourselves immersed in figuring out every little detail before the big day. We would find ourselves getting stressed and then we would pause to focus on what it was all about. We were both so excited to have a day to celebrate our love with people who loved and supported us.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Alex: The first look and our first dance.
Lilly: Alex’s vows, walking down the aisle as husband and wife, and the dancing!
What is your favorite picture and why?
Alex: The first look pictures – they perfectly capture our excitement for the day! Also the one of us at our sweetheart table laughing during the speeches.
Lilly: The one where Alex is resting his forehead on mine and we’re both smiling. That encompasses the whole day and how much love we have for each other. Also the one where we are holding hands and walking in the forest. It looks like we are in a fairy tale!!
Is there anything that you would change?
We wish we had invited more people. We got concerned about money and venue and narrowed down our guest list. Alex also said he wished there hadn’t been mosquitoes eating us during pictures but we couldn’t really control that haha!
(Even though the mosquitoes were bad the photos in the woods with the waterfall were totally worth a couple of bites)!
What is your best advice for planning a wedding?
You will never regret being inclusive and inviting people, but you may regret not inviting people.
