St. Paul College Club wedding: Patty+Mark
This was the perfect fall St. Paul College Club wedding! Mark and Patty laughed all day and it was the first time a couple did their first dance to Led Zeppelin!
As told by Patty
How did you meet and fall in love?
We met in the fall of 2009. There was a group of friends that decided to move into a house off campus together, and we needed a seventh roommate. One of the group–a future groomsmen named Frank–suggested his friend Mark, whom he’d known since childhood. Mark moved in with the group, and we got to know each other over the next year. We were good friends by the time we moved out, and kept in touch while Mark lived in Mobile, AL for his first job out of college. He moved back to MN in 2012, and over time we grew closer as friends. We started dating in 2014, at first cautiously because neither of us wanted to risk ruining the friendship. About 6 months in we both knew it was the real deal.
How did you choose your venue?
We had a list of musts when choosing our venue–cost needed to be reasonable, food needed to be good, easy liquor delivery, and a space that wasn’t too big or too small. Our main focus was throwing a great party. St. Paul College Club ticked off all of those boxes, and it happens to be in my favorite area of the cities–Summit Ave.
What were your thoughts leading up to your wedding day?
Neither of us remember too much about exact thoughts, but we were mainly excited. I think at a certain point we both conceded that we would not get angry or stressed out if any mishaps happened. We decided to just enjoy the ride, because it’s only happening once.
What was your favorite part of the day?
My favorite part was at the dinner, realizing that all of these people made a special trip just to celebrate with us. It sounds corny, but it filled my heart with so much love and happiness. I also loved the part where Mark sent over battleship to the ladies’ dressing area, along with a walkie talkie.
Mark’s favorite part of the day was seeing Patty walk down the aisle, which is making Patty get all emotional (again).
What is each of your favorite images from your wedding and why?
Patty: I love this group shot
We had such a good wedding party, all super supportive and helpful. I see this photo and think we almost look like a classy, well-mannered group of people. It makes me smile.
Mark: I love this shot outside of the two of us
Is there anything that you would change?
No, it’s a day we’ll cherish forever.
What is your best advice to anyone planning a wedding?
Our best advice is to take your time, enjoy the ride, and do whatever feels best for you as a couple.
