“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” ― Albert Einstein
Another year, another plunge! The polar plunge is a fundraising event for the Special Olympics. To take part in the plunge, each participant agrees to raise a certain amount of money through pledges and donations and, in exchange, they get to jump in a frigid lake in the middle of winter! This year, I went out to photograph my daughter Liv’s team (she works at Burrito Loco in Dinkytown). Liv’s team managed to raise an impressive $2300+ through their fundraising efforts, all of which was donated to the Special Olympics! It was a chilly day to photograph the event with the temperature hovering around 1°. Despite the freezing temps, the Minneapolis plunge was popular this year, with over 4000 jumpers at Lake Calhoun! I think I was colder then everyone else by the end of the day. The jumpers went in and out but I was on the ice for a couple of hours. Though the men standing in the lake protecting and helping the jumpers had the hardest job of the day!
